Arup’s new Perth workplace sets a benchmark for sustainable, inclusive design. Arup has unveiled its newly completed Perth office fitout, a four-storey workspace designed in collaboration with Hames Sharley to reflect the firm’s commitment to regenerative and people-centred design.

A standout feature of the office is the 70-metre-long internal ‘runway’ – a central spine that physically links all collaboration areas, addressing fragmentation in the base building and encouraging movement and connection throughout the space.

Energyline’s linear lighting solutions are used extensively across the fitout, specified in 3500K CCT with low UGR louvres to ensure optimal visual comfort and performance.

Guided by Arup’s purpose of sustainable development, the workplace is a response to the Living Building Challenge – prioritising the health of people and planet. Biophilic design, non-toxic and reused materials, and a strong connection to Country are central to the concept.

The project took a collaborative co-design approach, working closely with Noongar artist Peter Farmer and his family from Peter Farmer Designs, alongside interior designers Hames Sharley. Their input helped embed First Nations culture and knowledge into the heart of the workplace.

More than just an office, Arup’s new Perth space is designed as a hub for collaboration – where clients, partners and communities can come together to share ideas, celebrate culture and shape a more sustainable future.
